Day 6 – 2nd day in South Atlantic Ocean

Another relaxing day… In a briefing on the next port, Stanley, we were given the ins and outs of proper visitor behavior for the Falkland Islands. Don’t wear Argentine colors, light blue and white together. Most any currency is accepted except Argentine Pesos. Forecast is sunny but windy.

Met Robert and Deb today from Albuquerque who will be sharing a hiking tour guide in Tierra del Fuego with us at our stop in Ushuaia, Argentina in a few days. We’ve been corresponding for a few months, but now meeting in person for the first time. I had found a 4 person hiking tour and posted it on Cruise Critic looking for another couple.

This was a good day for sun bathing on our balcony with partial sun most of the day. Chilly and windy, so not wearing bathing suits.

Tonight was our first premium dining night, at the Pinnacle Grill onboard. It is a refined Steak restaurant and did not disappoint. I had the chef’s signature appetizer, Mapled Candied Bacon, presented in a clothesline plate. I enjoyed my Filet Mignon and lobster tail, while Laura loved her Tenderloin and Lobster Dumplings. Topped it all off with Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Soufflé. What a wonderful meal.

Although we didn’t see them, there’s been some whale sitings in the last two days. one gentleman showed me his pictures – amazing whale breaches, tails flapping and spouts blowing. He and his wife have been hanging out on the upper deck for hours with his telephoto lens to capture whales and dolphins.

I’m having to check the elevator carpet each day to tell me what day of the week it is.
