Days 23 and 24 – Days at Sea

We left Lima earlier this morning and are at sea the next two days, heading to Manta, Ecuador.

These are days of much needed rest and recovery. We had leisurely breakfasts, we saw the ship doctor to follow-up on Laura’s bronchitis recovery and my resurgence of a sinus infection after the flight back to Lima. We got some antibiotics and other cough and congestion medicine. Probably have the doctor check us out one more time in a few days. We are improved enough to go to the Dining Room for diner instead of room service. so that’s good.

Days are now warm and a little humid. But there’s a breeze, so sitting on the balcony is just fine. The Pacific Ocean is like a lake in the morning.

A small pod of dolphins came past the ship. This time I was on the balcony and had my camera and telephoto lens handy.

Something interesting I learned as we approach the equator. There is little variance in sunrise/sunset times across the year. It’s mostly sunrise around 6AM and sunset around 6PM, with maybe a 30 minute variance around most. Sunset was at 6:30PM this evening and it was dark by 7PM. Of course, there is no Daylight Savings Time used in South America, so although we are back in the Eastern time zone, we’re an hour behind MD time.
